Job Description:
ENACCT is the only national organization solely devoted to evidence-based, community-centered approaches to cancer clinical trials education. A non-profit organization, our mission is to improve access to cancer clinical trials through education and collaboration with communities, health care providers, and research staff. We seek to increase cancer clinical trial participation and access to quality care for all cancer patients -- especially from underserved communities. The Project Manager will be responsible for implementing two new nationally-focused projects: the Cancer Clinical Trials National Learning Collaborative and the 1-800 Nurse Coach Service Line. The candidate will have strong project management and organizational skills that will benefit a small and growing entrepreneurial organization with high visibility and impact in the cancer community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage recruitment of national experts and sites
• Develop new relationships and ensure regular communication with key stakeholders
• Assist experts in developing quality improvement measures for clinical trials implementation
• Facilitate all project activities including the preparation of agendas, meetings and identifying appropriate faculty and presenters.
• Assist in development of procedures for phone line
• Communicate and monitor project outcomes and ensure adherence to work plans
• Manage subcontractors
• Lead writing of progress reports for funders
• Develop promotional materials for both projects
• Promote projects at local and national forums

QUALIFICATIONS
1. A minimum of 5 years’ progressive responsibility in managing health-related programs
2. Demonstrated competence in program implementation and management, preferably in health care delivery system, non-profit, advocacy, or government
3. Demonstrated ability to work productively with different types of colleagues (e.g., staff members, doctors, nurses, researchers, patients and advocates) in the development and execution of programs
4. Ability to conduct simple data analysis and interpretation
5. Experience in team environment and team building
6. Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility
7. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage several tasks simultaneously and work independently.
8. Skills in establishing priorities and organizing work with multiple competing priorities
9. Excellent planning and organizational skills.
10. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.
We prefer that the candidate has
• Some familiarity with cancer care across primary and specialty care and/or clinical research.
• Some knowledge of QI collaborative methods of learning (e.g. Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Improvement Advisor Program, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Experience using quantitative software packages (e.g., Excel) to manipulate, analyze, and communicate conclusions from system improvement data
• Some experience with telephone help lines for members of the public

DC Cancer Consortium Director of Corporate and Foundation Development

  • Responsible for all aspects of initiating and managing  relationships with foundations and corporations for the purpose of soliciting financial support through grants and gifts;
  • A member of the senior management team, reporting to the Executive Director;
  • Capable of envisioning a “big picture” future for the Consortium’s fundraising as well as meeting immediate needs

Duties

  • Develops and directs a comprehensive program for corporate and foundation giving, including goals and objectives that mirror the Consortium’s priority activities and needs.
  • Obtains and maintains research materials relating to foundations and corporations, in the Greater Washington metro area as well as nationally.
  • Analyzes prospects and develops cultivation strategies for implementation, seeking targets that Consortium activities match well.
  • Develops proposals and grant requests directed to foundations and corporations.
  • Prepares publications and other materials to facilitate communication with target foundations and corporations.
  • Presents grant requests on behalf of the Consortium.
  • Provides advice to Consortium leaders and staff on activities and plans that are conducive to attracting favorable attention from prospective funders, as well as retaining the support of current funders.
  • Establishes a system for tracking and recording all interactions with corporations and foundations.

Knowledge and Skills Needed

  • Ample, demonstrable experience in developing productive and mutually-beneficial relationships with corporations and foundations, including the development of proposals and the execution of research.
  • Ease and confidence in interacting with boards of directors, senior managers, high capacity funders, and other key stakeholders..
  • Expert knowledge of trends, techniques, and practices in corporate and/or foundation fundraising with a demonstrated track record of managing successful relationships for large grants and gifts.
  • Understanding of public health and the cancer environment in the District of Columbia.

Baseline Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in a related field and a minimum of seven years of demonstrated success and increasing responsibility as a corporate and/or foundation fundraiser. Skills expected include knowledge of fundraising operational structure, policies and procedures, software, etc.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, as well as sound judgment and tenacity.
  • Personal characteristics: maturity, compassion, open-mindedness and a willingness to learn, creativity, a sense of humor and perspective, and the demeanor to achieve immediate credibility with Consortium leaders and staff as well as prospective funders.

Position Name:
Nurse Practitioner
Organization: Washington Cancer Institute
Job Description:
The Nurse Practitioner will have the opportunity to help Washington Cancer Institute pilot the Survivorship Care program. In addition to clinical management she/he will follow the patients and guide them through issues of late effects, long-term effects and surveillance issues, coping and psychosocial needs. The NP will help educate the breast cancer survivor patients on issues such as exercise, healthy eating, etc. in a one-on-one and group setting. They will answer and help navigate any question the patient may have regarding cognitive dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, or lymphadema.  The NP will also educate breast surgeons and primary care physicians on the use of Survivorship Care Plans. The NP will communicate issues breast cancer survivors face to primary care physicians and serve as a bridge between the medical oncologists and the primary care providers.
